Artist's Description
I decided to look up the difference between a water lily and a lotus (I love both). What I discovered was the lotus "emerges" from the water, while the water lily floats on top of the water. The water lily's leaves are also different, by way of a split in the leaf from which the stem connects, and the lotus does stem is in the middle and not split. They are often confused with each other. Here we have a wonderful purple lotus. (I think ;)
